THE BOAT
'M.V. Summertime' Is a 30' Berry boat built in Weymouth
and was originally used for lobster and crab fishing.
As a charter boat, 'Summertime' is fully licensed and certified
by the Marine Coastguard Agency, and is inspected annually.
We carry mandatory Safety Equipment including liferaft, lifejackets, flares, first aid kit and fire extinguishers. This vessel also has a
superior bilge pumping capability, having no less than
three seperate systems.
Navigation - Fish Detection
To ensure that the angler is accurately positioned on the
fishing marks, our boat is equipped with the latest
Global Positioning System, and Colour LCD chartplotter,
employing the very latest C-Map cartography.
Also a Colour LCD Fishfinder to pinpoint shoal activity,
Other gear includes 24 Mile Radar - 2 x VHF Radios and a
Magnetic Steering Compass ( backup to Electronic )
With a large deck area the M.V. Summertime is licensed
to carry 12 passengers and is comfortably able to do so.
THE SKIPPER
'Summertime' Skipper John Hamilton has been a professional mariner for a number of years and is qualified to a very high standard having all the relevant certificates including Sea Survival, First Aid, Fire Fighting and VHF DSC Radio Operators Licence.
He is currently a full professional workboat skipper.
John has over 30 years experience at both sea fishing and coarse angling and is a former member of the Irish Fly fishing team.
John’s sheer enthusiasim and love for fishing will ensure that everyone onboard has the best possible experience. During all fishing activity the skipper is on hand to help you, giving tips and instruction where required. John can also show you how to clean and prepare your fish and if time permits,
may even cook some for you to try onboard.
Once we're finished fishing, you are provided with string and shown how to string your fish up while the boat returns to the harbour another great photo opportunity !
Remember the skipper has a strong incentive for you to catch fish.
